Today Kaitty
is here to advise you guys about PC hygiene, for all those guys who are
usually worried about spywares in computer, irrespective to my precious technologybased articles in which I have discussed some figures about Internet,
mobiles, e-games and especially (How can I forget?) easiest Way to make $1000/monthonline. Well this was just a general gossip now let’s come to our actual
turn and that is for all guys who usually found to be worried about virus
attacks on their personal computers:and they think How to protect PC from viruses’ attacks really?
Who Fall in love with Virus
First of
all let’s talk about, a little, what type of the guys usually fall in the pit
of Viruses (Spywares of computer). First of all most of the dupes are folks who
don't install updates to plug security holes on windows OS. Other types of guys
are who tangled in viruses, which have no antivirus software installed on PC or
have no active firewall. Moving on another cause, as per experts’ opinion, is “Installing
pirated software or cracks on PC” or “Trying unknown social tricks”. So all
such guys who don’t install updates on regular basis, don’t install antivirus
packages and install tricky links on social media etc. (Installing Flash, Adobe
or email attachments etc.), should avoid such practices to avoid from viruses’
attack. Before moving I would like to share a short tale of one mine friend who
encountered with drastic virus, which actually she had installed a ‘Flash
update’ through social engineering trick on twitter, although she had Kaspersky
in its OS. So my conclusions was from this happening: Don’t be greedy
about updates (although I have asked you to keep updated to avoid from viruses)
and install updates of anything from only some official sources. In this sense, she
must need to take pulse from official website of Adobe and not from some
scam link fluttered on social media. Similarly my other conclusion was: Not
every antivirus will catch each and every spyware (recall! She had an antivirus
at the time of delusive adobe update) so be active to take some next level
precautionary steps, which I am going to recommend you to protect your PC from
viruses.
Special recommendations to protect PC
Well, although in my introductory phase of article, I
have told (recommended) you a lot of nice clutches to keep PC safe and hygienic. But
here are some special recommendations from my side for your precious PC. Keep
these words!
1. Keep Up-to-Dated
Microsoft® releases
patches of software updates on second Tuesday of each month, so install them either
automatically, or install them promptly (by going in tray icons at Windows OS).
Thus in my opinion the most important act for PC hygiene is to keep all your
software up to dated. If you are a home user of computer, irrespective to
Business user, then it is good to install updates automatically rather to go for
premium spyware packages (upcoming recommendation).
Secondly, if you have made your mind to keep your system
up-to-dated, then now do install Secunia'sPersonal Software Inspector. What is actually this program for? Briefly, in
a line, it checks the PC of user if it, Software or any other part of Windows,
needs some update or not and above all it may install those needy updates
automatically which usually Microsoft's automatically updaters fail to do.
2. AntiVirus Softwares
As Per Ranking (quick Survey PC): First
of all let’s have a sight on the list of antivirus software (ranked on pc
users’ choice). This list, actually, I have noted from a quick survey at PC Pro
magazine that would help you to choose a spyware for health of your PC. Survay
is saying in 2014, Avast Pro is currently the most popular option with 19.8%
ahead of Microsoft's offerings with 16.6% and third place it is Kasperskywith 16.2%, moving on is AVG (8.8%) and Bitdefender (5%).
As
Per Burden on OS / Processor: Now, let’s come towards
the users who want lighter antiviruses to avoid shillyshally of their
microprocessor. If you are a habitual of keeping up-to-date your computer and a
visitor of internet (safe websites) then I think, Microsoft SecurityEssentials and, in Windows 8, Windows Defender are more than enough.
But if you don’t want any type of mercy on viruses and have compromise on speed
of PC then you should go for Avast 2014 as it has a better detection
rates.
As Per Premium (free or paid) : If
you are a person who have special concern on money and want to decide about
spyware on the basis of money (Best from free ones and Best from paid ones)
then this brief analysis is a key stone for you. If you are a regular and home
based user of PC then I hope you are looking for a free solution, so watch
towards Avast Free edition. However people also usually looks towards more
perfection on the expense of bucks. Avast's Premier edition includes a special
mechanism to protect banking operations, a firewall, email checking system to
detect spam and phishing attacks, an automatic software updater, a data
shredder, and so on. I must say this premium package is good and convenient but
not essential at all. If we want to pay some bucks again the then i recommend
you Kaspersky Pure 3.0 Total Security, which is on sale at $79.95 (upto my
knowledge) for one PC for one year. An innocent question is, what it will do
for you on the reward of $79.95? It will try to roll back any malware activity.
As well as it will offer a lot like a firewall, file suppressor, safe money and
anti-spam / phishing features, keyboard protection, banner ad blocking, a
password manager, encryption, backups and parental controls.
See some Alternates: Well
if, until now, you have not been able to make your mind after reading about
analysis and categorization then don’t worry we have some alternative options
(easy one) for you- just like Easy money making solution- we have
offered you on our blog. Alternatives include some well known suites as Norton
and McAfee. Yes! You have well recognized this latter suite McAfee, it
is same pre-installed (on OS) antivirus to protect PC from viruses.
My Personal Love: I know
you all, as you all are my buddies, that you are thinking what actually
Kaitty’s PC is using for its personal hygiene? This year, I've been using the
free Avast 2014 anti-virus program, which includes anti-spyware and
anti-rootkit protection (good for users like me). Well before my
recommendation, I want to advise you that, it usually come with a “foistware”
like “Google Chrome” so always choose custom installation of Avast to avoid
this add-on.
My Final words to protect your PC from viruses
My conclusive words are “Just doing the right things
is usually enough to keep more than 98% of Windows PCs malware free” and it is
better to do those things irrespective to feeling headache of tiny viruses.
(Microsoft says that the in the fourth
quarter of 2013, its software removed malware from 1.78% of PCs worldwide, with
Tunisia having the worst infection rate at 4.95%.) However,
accidents can happen to anyone….
Although it is (above all) more than enough to feel
free from furiousness of spywares but however you may have some cross-checks
and rescues to protect PC from virus at next level. Remember that no
anti-virus catches everything, so it's very much important to run a quick
double-check from time to time. To do so, you can use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
(MBAM) and Kaspersky'sSecurity Scan. Similarly a third option is SurfRight's HitmanPro,
which you can easily install on a USB thumbdrive.
I hope, now you would definitely find fear-free from
malware attacks on your PC. That was all I may do for hygiene of your PC but
what can you do for us? Do tell all of our community that how effective were
these tips to avoid from viruses and if you have some add on then please add
them in comments section.
