10 Old memories of internet which you may have forgotten

            Today we are living in the era of internet rather I should say, we are going to step in the world of the internet of things, internet is penetrating in physical things. Going on, youth is now addicted of Facebook or twitter and passionate entrepreneurs are making money online through internet. But can you imagine the internet without Google, Facebook, Orkat or YouTube etc? But believe me internet was not always like this, 25 years ago when internet was only World Wide Web (internet is 25 years old now) then scene was totally different. What was that scene? How was internet in those days? I know most of you would not be aware with ancient time’s internet or you might have gone forgotten. I hope you would have been understanding theme of this article; it’s all to remind some 10 old memories you may have forgotten about internet.       

The Internet before Search Engines

Are you thinking that Google is all in all internet and it was not present before such search engines? But my old fried Kelly told me that many years ago, when she started on internet, before search engines internet was a tangled dial up exercise. Everything was dial up through a long data wire from your telephone set below in drawing room. She added that her first experience towards internet was helping her grandmother to solve her crossword puzzles.  There was a desktop like software which you downloaded on desk ‘meta crawler’, being connected with different online servers and internet service providers just like search engines are doing these days. It queried from multiple sources and tells you the right answer, it was all about internet before search engines, what she remember now. In those days queries were entered in Meta crawler like this, “Who hit the first goal against Brazil in 1988?” Answer of this long query was just a vague image and you said it is rubbish.

Then appear Ask Jeeves – Polite Search Engine

Does anyone of you really know about Ask Jeeves? If someone has good or might be

funny polite memories with it, then please do share with my audience below in comment section. However, I was telling that it was Ask Jeeves- THE SEARCH ENGINE- polite one. People have been used it to find answers of their queries but in polite manners not like these days, when we just order to Google “FIFA” (a single word search) and Google tells us each and everything according to our mind set within minutes. However, queries were something like this

'Can you possibly tell me that what is the capital of Kuala Lumpur please?'
'Would you know how many glasses are in one dozen Sir?'
'I'm not sure, but is there a motor at the front of the car or else please?

I can say searching something and asking it to Ask Jeeves was similar to have a chit chat with someone dear buddy. OMG! What a shameful it was being so polite.

Porn of Old Internet (Just Info)

Although I am neither an old lady nor a porn addicted but one of our fans share with this innocent form of porn in old days. It was trying to figure out naked ladies on newsgroups and then waiting up to six minutes for pictures to emerge clearly, line by line, in the situation of Inquietude. After this exercise people just has been seen the charm and wonders of naked ladies on desktop of your computer. I should say, how innocent were old memories of internet?

Do you remember, your first computer to use internet

What a non-graphical and simple computer was that, I have been used to browse some data and collect some basic info from today’s revolution internet.

I still remember that computer with green texture on its screen (having no attractive graphics) made by Alpha Micro. However I can’t recall the name of that simple browser (i have used) having no window, no history, no advance html etc. to entertain us with more flexibility. But I can say too with surety that graphics was not at all a serious issue for computer user in those days. Because they have been fond of solving their questions, rather than focus on graphics and flexibility.

Websites from early days of internet were junk

Just like functionality of internet, as one decade back it was not like this, websites were not so dynamic, gorgeous, flexible and well designed. Here below is the image of old days Google from 1997. How do you like this? I still remember how wonderful it was back in 1999 and 2000 when it seemingly returned exactly what you wanted, i.e. before commercial interests took over.

A Fan’s entry to Live Chat rooms back in 1995

Does any one of you remember the time when a news was blown in his or her mind that “anyone can talk or chat to anyone in the world with clicks on mouse and fingers dance on his or her keyboard”. I know most of you have fallen in shock earlier. But here is a simple story, belongs to my fan, depicts how he makes his entry into chat room world (when he came to know that people may talk to each other on internet).

“I know the days, back in 1995, we (me and my friends) were roaming around the internet with emails. Emails were so basic that we mostly didn’t want to jump into very basic HTML. Then a cherish moment arose that we came to know about Virtual Irush Pub, I guess it was the very first and basic one Live chat room, we have used. At that times I still remember, it was a paid website helping people to talk and make fun with each other. After spend 5 to 7 years with VIP then we have moved towards blogger and now Wordpress”: Leo Zoeg (Our Fan)

ASL; Most Economic and effective Preface we had

I hope most of you would, definitely, be aware with this abbreviation. OK don’t know? Well I recall it; it was ASL (Age? Sex? Location?). Basically it is a questioner statement, but in short form. I still remember the days, in my childhood, when started my strangers chat on OMEGLE (OMG! It was a great fun) and I was not at all familiar with this introductory word (Despite I was using it LOLX). After a long run, then I came to know that people ask others about his or her age, sex and location with ASL. So in short ASL is an old thing on internet, which is actually a highest asked question too. Thanks to it

I really don’t know, what actually was the algorithm behind this complicated search pattern of Google in old days of internet? Yes it is true, children of this age might be not aware, earlier you had to insert a plus sign to do a search on search engine. Otherwise result was not adequate or proper. Those were the days, actually, Aahhhhh….

Old Thinking, I can read the entire Internet

Actually it seems to be a funny thing that when very first times I heard about great revolution internet then I decided to learn a bundle from it.  Yes its alright, I was going to read whole and whole internet. But today I am in fear, how long it will take to read whole literature of internet. Probably Kaitty would require three more lives or may be four?

Time is money but it keeps worth

            It’s last but not the least golden memory of internet. There are many other which come time by time in mind (I would share them too with you guys, stay tunes). Well, basically it is not only a memory but a great lesson for me from my teacher ‘Internet’. However, it’s 1997, when internet became functional in my home town very first time for common people. OMG! I still remember I could only get my access to the internet via dial-up on a pay-by-minute basis, rather than data download, which was quite different from today’s internet surfing (as today we can make money from internet just simply clicking ads). Usually, it happened, I did not download or surf any single byte from internet but it cost many bucks (in fact from my father’s purse). So, this was very first moment in my life when I learned an important lesson from internet that ‘Time is Money’(But transaction of that money is timeless).

        Untill now it was all from my side to remind some pleasant memories of internet. Some of which were from my mind and some of them I collected from fans and friends and prepare 10 old memories of internet for you guys. OK!
