                In the decade of digital revolution, every internet bee is being social on wide social networks of internet. I found that excess socializing is causing hacking issues and data thieving for folks. I also have listened claim of many people: “My friend stolen my important and secret files from my PC” or “I am worried how to lock a folder to protect my data in computer.” I even know you may easily found different software by Google to lock your folder of Windows or Mac. You may get and download one of these software packages for folder encryption and can protect your data.

·         AxCrypt

·        7-Zip (Used for encryption, extraction as well as suppression of folder)

But today, the method i am going to discuss with you is how to lock a folder without using any software. It sounds odd but actually here coming a methodology or trick by using which you will do folder encryption.

Lock a Folder without Software

            Be attentive! Now in this tutorial I will guide you step by step about our concern (heading). You just follow these steps and simply download code, to be used in this folder encryption method, from bottom of this article.

            Step1:  Open a new notepad file in windows. Go to ‘Start’ and type ‘note’ in search bar, then double click on Notepad. As shown in screen shot

 

            Step2:  Download few awesome lines of code from bottom of the article and copy-paste it in Notepad (you opened in step1). Now File>>Save as….

 

        Step3: Remember, always save file as ‘Lock.bat’. It is must to save with name ‘Lock’ and extension‘.bat’.You can see ‘geared icon’ on your desktop. It will actually work for you.

Step4: Now you have done approximately entirety of your extra cover. It’s time to protect your important data and files with a key password. Double click on ‘Lock.bat’. It will create a default folder with name ‘MyFolder’, automatically. Now drag or paste all data in ‘MyFolder’, which you want to make password protected. Procedure is depicted in screenshot below.

            Note: In my case I have created ‘Lock.bat’ and ‘MyFolder’ on desktop. You may create or move it to directory of your own desire, where you think it is OK. 

Step5: In this step we will lock ‘MyFolder’ with our default password. To do so, you have to double click on ‘Lock.bat’. A prompt will ask you, whether you want to lock your data in ‘MyFolder’ with password or not? You will enter with ‘Y’ to lock data and with ‘N’ to remain unlocked.

Step6: Folder is locked with default password ‘easyinfo’. However you may change password, later I will elaborate about it. Now if you want to unlock ‘MyFolder’ again. Double click on ‘Lock.bat’, and type password ‘easyinfo’. ‘MyFolder’ will again appear and unlock. Wow… Data is again in your access and password is in the clamps of your mind.

    

Step7: Now if you want to change password then edit ‘Lock.bat’ as shown in screenshot. Press “Ctrl+F” and find ‘easyinfo’. Here, at this place, you can change or retype password of your own desire. Congrats! Next time ‘Lock.bat’ for your new password.  

Tips, you would like:

·         You can rename ‘Lock.bat’ file with the desire of your own name. By doing so, no one will get       skeptical and you will enjoy more safety. 
        Hide ‘Lock.bat’, so that no one can ever edit change or hack your password.

I Think I have tried my best to elaborate, how to lock a folder. Now it’s your turn to enjoy this light weight folder encryption. I felt that this technique has never slow down my computer because it just took few bytes of my laptop.
